Life Together: Celebration and Sacrament
“These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I would go with the throng and lead them in procession to the house of God with glad shouts and songs of praise, a multitude keeping festival” (Psalm 42:4).
The blessing of God is the community of the saints as we commune in sacrament and celebration. The sacrament reminds us that we belong to Christ. The celebration reminds us that we belong to each other. Neither sacrament nor celebration is dispensable. In fact, when understood rightly, there is always celebration in the sacrament, and sacrament in celebration. Psalm 133 reminds us: ”Behold how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity…For there the Lord has commanded the blessings, life forevermore.” The blessing is life – life in the sacrament, life worth celebrating.
We praise God for the blessing of community at East Point Church where we can share in both sacrament and celebration.
